Size of a Planet, Track and trace
|
March 2020: As the UK went into its first national lockdown, a truly original project emerged - Size of A Planet. Nineteen diverse musicians, with a collective track record that includes World Music Awards, Grammy nominations, UK and US hit records, and credits with Joe Strummer, Richard Hawley, Jarvis Cocker, Florence, and the Machine, Basement Jaxx, and many others.
|
Originally conceived by guitarist/producer Bryan Day, the project was loosely based on a musical version of the family paper fold-down game, known to many as Consequences or Pass It On. Nineteen musician friends signed up to Bryan’s idea, whereby each recorded a musical idea and emailed it on to the next person, until eventually, 19 passes later, the initial idea returned to its owner, in glorious amalgamation. The Size Of A Planet project emerged as an innovative and resourceful way for them all to focus their talents on creating new original music, during a time of lockdowns with devastating consequences for many musicians across the world.
|
The results are impressively coherent, while the musicians contribute a wide variety of instruments and vocal styles. Each musician’s contribution is sensitive to the needs of the song, while also flexing their considerable creative talents to come up with some truly original and inspiring tunes. It is now time for the project to start to emerge into the light - Size of a Planet will be presenting their first single double A-side on Friday 23rd of April 2021, for you to judge for yourself.

lyrics
I've been sick & tired of news, have you?
All I hear is cough, cough wash that's true
Thank god I can still make a tune
Keep the funky vibes flowin' with the flu
I'm trapped inside
Can't feel my mind
It's spilling from both sides
I search it's all I find
Don't give it away
I'm sure if you'll stay
Then we'll play
I've been sick & tired of the news, have you?
All I hear is cough, cough wash that's true
Thank god I can still make a tune
Keep the funky vibes flowin' with the flu
I told you to hide your face
Oh yeah, yeah
Oh yeah, yeah
Man I was a lazy son
I never used to get things done
I used to think that I was
Some kind of glorious angel
And every time I look at you
I think about the way we do the things we do
I've been sick & tired of news, have you?
All I hear is cough, cough wash that's true
Thank god I can still make a tune
Keep the funky vibes flowin' with the flu
Peace and love prevail baby peace and love is cool
Peace and love prevail baby peace and love is cool
I told you to hide your face (Baby)
I told you to hide your face (Baby)
Yeah track n trace
To know where you're going gotta know where ya come from
It's not just a tickle in your lungs but a swan song
Time to confess another fine mess
So cough it up fam yeah get it off your chest
To know where you're going gotta know where ya come from
It's not just a tickle in your lungs but a swan song (Oh, oh, oh)
Time to confess another fine mess
So cough it up fam yeah get it off your chest yes (Oh, oh, oh)
